Out and About Tour Trip Notes

Out and About Half Day Three Wheeled Adventure

Out and About Half Day Tour Trip Notes

The Three Wheeled “Out and About” Adventure Trike Tour was inspired by this TrikeMan and my lovely daughter  Jenni when Melbourne Tours on Trike were featured on Coxy’s Big Break travel show here in Melbourne. It does stand the test of time, now being almost 4 years ago, showing off Melbourne at its best.

You can see the Video of our part of the show here;

Our other Trike Tours run from 1 hour up to a full day and while each of our Three Wheeled Adventures takes in specific location in and around the City, this Half Day Out and About Trike Tour combines all our shorter tours into one (plus a lot more….).  We do cover lots of Kilometres on this Ride and over the almost 4 years of running the tour we have refined the route, better understand how the traffic can affect the timing of the ride as well as gleaning lots of information about all the areas we visit.

Our customers tell us, especially first time visitors to Melbourne, that the Out and about Tour shows many different aspects of Melbourne, takes them to parts they would not have otherwise seen, plus the wind in your face sensation of riding our Big Blue BoomTrike make the Trike Tour an unforgettable experience.

Out and About Trip Notes

Starting at Docklands Trike HQ on the Waterfront (or your Hotel) we make our way down through Docklands visiting Victoria Harbour, get quite close up against the water, pointing out our Tall Ship “Alma Doepel” as well as Wattle, the Enterprise and the Reclamation of all the original Docks from the Gold Rush days. Moving from there down into Melbourne’s Container Shipping Precinct hearing all about how busy and important this area is to Victoria before making our way down into Williamstown, the first part of settlement in Melbourne during 1833.

The Historic Port of Williamstown is where Melbourne started and nowadays is a wonderfully preserved part of our History and your rider has bucket loads of information to talk about here.  After looping around and through the City of Hobson’s Bay we make our way under and over the WestGate Bridge with a little bit of “Whoosh” where we zip along before venturing down into Port Melbourne and along the waterfront past Station Pier, Princes Pier and the Port Melbourne precinct.  This part of Melbourne has a mix of Historic and Modern architecture with the ride along the Waterfront to St Kilda, in this TrikeMan’s Opinion, shows off Melbourne at its very best…..

St Kilda up until the late 1920’s was the visiting place of the Rich & Famous, nowadays it is an inner suburb of our great City, still being a very popular place for all of our visitors. We are well into this Three Wheeled Adventure now, so its time for a quick break, a milk shake or coffee, and depending on you the customer Lunch at Jerry’s Milk Bar is a good option as well.

Watching the world go by here, Jerry’s is still a hangout of many media people, so don’t be surprised to see a celebrity or two enjoying themselves here as well.

Soon we are off again as we turn back towards the City, into the busy visitor precinct of St Kilda. Ackland St Cake Shops, Luna Park, a look back over the water to see where we have come from and then into Albert Park and our Formula 1 GP Track.  Depending on the time of year, certainly Late February and early March, you are on the Racetrack as apart from the Pits Building, everything is brought into the area transforming a big public road into an F1 Racetrack.

It doesn’t get much better than a “Selfie” photo on Pole Position, especially if you know someone who is an F1 fan who has never been to Melbourne.

From here it is back towards the CBD, around the spectacular Domain, through the Sports Precinct and then skirting around the edge of the CBD making our way North.  The Italian Restaurant precinct of Lygon St, you can smell the wonderful food  and then further north through Carlton which is just a time warp of days gone by. We continue west across Parkville into North Melbourne and then head south back towards the Docklands via the Bolte Bridge where once over the apex of the Bridge the whole of Melbourne just opens up in front of you.  You will recognize many of the places we have come past, a lot more as well, giving you a new perspective of what Melbourne is all about.

We get some serious “Whoosh” here up high on our Main Tollway with the view being absolutely well worth it, even now this TrikeMan is not sure which part of this view to look at first  (albeit while still concentrating on the traffic…..).

We now circle back into Docklands making our way to Trike HQ (or your Hotel) to finish off a good long Three Wheeled Adventure, which as a visitor, you will have been places well and truly off the Tourism Track, which is what our Three Wheeled Adventures are all about.

With all of our longer Trike Tours like this one, we do have a lot of flexibility where we go, so as long as we can fit it into the tour timeframe, if there is a somewhere specific you would like to visit, we do our best to take you there.

This is a good way to spend half a day seeing Melbourne, our Riders are a “Wealth of Information” about Melbourne, including things to do, places to eat ( or have coffee of course…) especially in and around Docklands, and like all of our Tours we do try to make this an unforgettable experience.

As mentioned earlier, this Out and About Three Wheeled Adventure covers lots of distance, that is what our Tours are all about, this particular one certainly gives a good overall view of Melbourne, especially first time or new visitors to Melbourne.

Please contact us if you have any questions about this or any of our Three Wheeled Adventures, we do like feedback, and as always thankyou for taking the time to read our Blog.
